Agriculture Mechanics II -Honors


Syllabus: Fall 2017


Course Goals and Description:


  • Demonstrate the safe and proper use of agricultural mechanics tools, equipment and facilities.
  • Identify and use metal fasteners.
  • Use oxy-fuel and arc welding equipment.
  • Construct a metal fabrication project.
  • Research types of tractors and their safe uses.
  • Demonstrate leadership Development.
  • Design a school-to-work employment plan based upon career objectives.
  • Service tractors, equipment and small engines.
  • Plan and build the framing of a wood structure.
  • Maintain an agricultural water system
  • Plan construction of different types of fences.

Tutoring at 7:15am at student request.


Required Materials:

  1. 1 ½ inch binder
  2. Dividers
  3. Pencils and Pens
  4. Loose leaf paper
  5. Students are expected to work in the shop and wear appropriate shop clothes. A handout will be given with description of clothes/shoes that meet safety rules.


Possible Assignments:

  1. Quizzes
  2. Tests
  3. Assignments (Book, on-line, vocabulary)
  4. Notebook checks (to make sure students are preparing for exam)
  5. Projects





Grading Policy


  • All grades are counted equally except projects which will count 3 grades each.


  • A (90 - 100)

    B (80 - 89)

    C (70 - 79)

    D (60 - 69)

    F (0 - 59)


  • Exam 20 percent


    • Performance exam is one half (10%): Portfolio of work/Notebook
    • CTE Post Assessment exam is one half (10%)


                   Final Average Computation


1st   9 weeks average = 40%                          

2nd  9 weeks average = 40%


Final Exam:               

           CTE Post Assessment = 10%

            Notebook/Portfolio    =  10%


Classroom Rules and Classroom Discipline


  1. Be in your seat when the bell rings.
  2. No food, drink, gum or candy.
  3. Do not sit on desks.
  4. Be respectful of others and their belongings.
  5. You cannot be in the shop or greenhouse without permission.
  6. You will be considered “skipping” if you are “out of area”.
