This course introduces students to responsible nurturing and basic applications of child development theory. Emphasis is on responsibilities of parents, readiness for parenting, and the influence parents have on children while providing care and guidance. Skills in planning, communication, resource management, and problem solving are reinforced. The focus is on children from infancy to age six.

 Required Supplies:

1 or 1 1/2” 3 ring binder (ONLY to be used for Parenting and Child Development)

4 Dividers

Loose Leaf Notebook Paper                          

Pens (black or blue)


Colored pencils

A= 90-100

B= 80-89

C= 70-79

D= 60-69

F= 59-below



Grading System:       20% Class Work

                                    25% Homework

                                    25% Projects

                                    30% Test/Quizzes


Final Exam Grade- Based on 50% state exam and 50% teacher assessment

Classroom Rules:


Students are required to bring materials to class daily.

Respect the teacher, other, yourself and school property

Be in the class and seated before the bell rings.

Heads Up! No sleeping- you must pay attention in class.

No food or drinks will be allowed in class.

All school rules will be enforced in this class.

Purses/ lunch bags are to be placed on the floor



The majority of class work will be completed during class time. However, some homework may be given to work on at home such as projects, preparing for test, and collecting data and information.  Missed assignments due to absences are due within 5 days of returning to school. It is your responsibility to get the work when you return. ***Progress reports are given every three weeks.
