Tara Smith

Director of Theatre Arts


Ms. Smith taught Theatre Arts in Wayne County for ten years. She began performing at Walt Disney World at seven years old and her first formal play was Oliver Twist at the Carolina Civic Center.  Ms. Smith continued studying theatre with Cape Fear Regional Theatre, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and Fayetteville State University. She graduated from Campbell University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts.

Following graduation, Ms. Smith served as an AmeriCorps Volunteer while also working with The Carolina Institute-University of North Carolina Chapel Hill as Project Coordinator for Acting 4 Advocacy. In 2005, Ms. Smith was North Carolina's Youth Representative on National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities. This summer, she participated in a workshop at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles courtesy CBS.
