Tara Smith

Director of Theatre Arts

Ms. Smith began her career in Theatre Arts at the age of seven. She has studied at various venues including The Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, Campbell University, and University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Her work ranges from performance to production. Most recently she served North Carolina Women's Theatre Festival as a scenic designer; last year she designed costumes. Ms. Smith also coordinated front of house for Raleigh Little Theatre over the last two years. She strives to never limit the capacity of learning.

This is Ms. Smith's second full year at Charles B. Aycock High School. Aside from teaching Theatre Arts, Ms. Smith also teaches Success 101 in which students develop a five year success plan to help them best prepare for college and/or career after high school graduation. Why you may ask?

Ms. Smith served as an AmeriCorps Volunteer while working with The Carolina Institute-University of North Carolina Chapel Hill as Project Coordinator for Project STIR. In 2005, Ms. Smith was North Carolina's Youth Representative for National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities
