The OCS Program requires that students earn 225 competitive-based hours. Students must have copies of pay-stubs and documentation of paid hours by employer. Students cannot obtain paid hours working for family residing at the same residence. In lieu of paid employment hours, students may count unpaid vocational training, unpaid internships, paid employment at community rehabilitation facilities, and volunteer or community service hours. If a student utililzes community based training hours in lieu of part or all of the requirement for 225 hours of paid employment, these hours must be over and above the community-based training hours required in Community-Based Hours.
The revised requirements are applicable to students who entered 9th grade for the first time in the 2014-2015 school year.
